Ingredients:


- Sliced ham

- Sliced cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss, provolone, or your favorite cheese)

- Bread (your choice of bread, such as white, whole wheat, sourdough, or rye)

- Butter or mayonnaise, for spreading

- Optional additions: lettuce, tomato, mustard, pickles, etc.


Instructions:


1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.


2. Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.


3. Place a slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of one slice of bread.


4. Layer the sliced ham on top of the cheese.


5. If desired, add any optional additions such as lettuce, tomato, mustard, or pickles on top of the ham.


6. Place another slice of cheese on top of the ham and optional additions.


7. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing outwards.


8. Place the sandwich in the preheated skillet or griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.


9. Once the sandwich is cooked to your liking, remove it from the skillet or griddle and let it cool slightly.


10. Slice the sandwich in half diagonally and serve immediately.
