Chai Tea, also known as Masala Chai, is a spiced tea originating from the Indian subcontinent. It typically consists of black tea infused with a blend of spices, milk, and sweetener.
Ingredients:
2 cups water
2 black tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose black tea leaves)
1 cinnamon stick
4-6 whole cloves
4-6 whole green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
1-2 tablespoons honey or sugar, to taste
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
Add the black tea bags (or loose black tea leaves), cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, ginger slices, and black peppercorns to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the spices and tea for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
Stir in the honey or sugar to sweeten the tea, adjusting to your taste preferences.
Add the milk to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the Chai Tea mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or tea strainer into serving cups.
Discard the spices and tea leaves.
Chai Tea is traditionally served hot, but it can also be enjoyed cold over ice for a refreshing twist. Feel free to adjust the spices and sweetness levels to suit your taste preferences. It's a cozy and comforting beverage that's perfect for chilly days or as a soothing treat any time of the day
